State and Federal Governments can trash laws.

The Church of Jesus Christ was driven out of Kirtland Ohio in 1837. Governor Boggs declared an extermination order to remove this Christian sect from Missouri in 1838.  Governor Ford armed a militia with cannons to force the Chruch of Jesus Christ from Illinois in 1846. Those state governments trashed freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and freedom of assembly, and worse. They funded and encouraged mobs to pillage, destroy property, rape women and children, and murder. 

The federal government recognized The Church of Jesus Christ's cause was just but did nothing.  In 1857, the United States Government sent Johnson's army to the western wilderness in an attempt to purge The Chruch of Jesus Christ from America. 

The United States Constitution and Bill of Rights did not protect The Chruch of Jesus Christ in the 19th Century and may not protect all Christian religions in the 21st Century.
